Mossdale – the big lift!!

After a long wait, the day has finally arrived.  Mossdale is craned out of the top basin and set on to a steel frame, along side Porter’s Row cottages – her home for the next few years while she is preserved.

One in and one out!!

It’s been a very exciting day at the National Waterways Museum, as the long awaited crane finally arrived. Box Boat 337, after four years out of the water, has been craned back in.  Take a look at the video on

BMS meeting 15 November 2013

At the Boat Museum Society meeting this month, we will be welcoming Nigel Bowker, who will be speaking on The Frodsham Grain Traffic from Liverpool. As usual, everyone is welcome in the Rolt Centre at 7.30pm

New look BMS meetings

BMS monthly meetings take on a new look starting with our October meeting. There will still be guest speakers, but talks will only take up the first 45 minutes of the evening, the remainder providing an opportunity for members, guests

BMS fundraising event

Starting at 8pm in the Rolt Theatre at the National Waterways Museum, Ellesmere Port. Thanks to Bob Thomas and his History Event Team for inviting us and for their kindness of donating the evening’s proceedings to the BMS fundraising appeal.
